Special Guests!
At Climate Code 2021, we will be bringing in various special guests! In addition to the people mentioned last week, we are excited to confirm that Ashley and Kuhu from the UC Berkeley Society of Women Engineers will provide a workshop on “Applying to College” with a Q&A session afterwards!
Unsure about what college you want to apply to? Curious to hear what life in college is actually like? Come chat with Kuhu and Ashley, and get all your questions asked in a brief presentation and Q+A about what studying computer science in college is like.

Event Date Reminder
This is a reminder that Climate Code 2021 will be held from Friday, August 6th at 7PM to Sunday, August 8th at 1 pm PDT. The opening ceremony will be on Friday, August 6th at 7PM PDT. Please ensure that you can make the ceremony!
Note: you will not be required to be active throughout the 36 hour hacking period, as the only deadline is in presenting your project at the scheduled time. More info on this will be shared in a later email.

Judging/Submissions
Climate Code 2021 will be running live virtual pitches on Sunday, August 8th. The pitching portion will be worth 20% of your final score. Teams will be provided with a 5 minute time slot to pitch their “hack” between 9:00AM and 11:30AM PDT on Sunday, August 8th.
Please keep in mind the following:

The product should be a prototype, user interface and front end development are not necessary for submitting a successful project.

Even if the program itself isn’t finished, that is fine. Your submission should simply show your thinking process when tackling the theme, and illustrate how you plan to tackle the theme of Environmental Issues with the beginnings of your solution. However, this is not a case competition and we want to see some practical work/coding done!

All work must be done during the hackathon period, from August 6th at 8PM to August 8th at 9AM!

If you are unavailable during the Judging Period from 9AM to 11:30AM on Sunday, August 8th, you must tell us via email to info@xdhacks.com before the Live Pitching schedule is released.

Participants will be able to watch other teams present if they wish. More information will be provided at a later date.

Finalized Schedule
Our team has worked diligently on devising an interactive and exciting event, with our tentatively finalized schedule that can be found here. There are over 15 exciting events for you to participate in!
Note: you are not required to attend all scheduled events, however, we highly encourage you to join as many as possible, as we guarantee you will learn something new!

Team
While teams of 1-4 participants are accepted, our recommended team size is a team size of 4. We highly encourage you to invite fellow peers to participate if your current team size has not reached 4 people.

Giveaway
All registrants are entered for our second giveaway happening this week for a Panago Compliments Certificate, worth 2 medium pizzas, 2 salads, and a 2-litre pop! The winner will be announced via Instagram story early next week.
With over 150 registrants, Climate Code 2021 is setting up to be a really exciting event, and we’re looking forward to meeting you all virtually in a week. In the coming week, we will have more information regarding our hacker resources, sponsor emails, finalized schedule, Participant Package, and much more!
